The city of Pembroke Pines runs its Touch-a-Truck Vehicle Expo on Saturday, September 19, at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, 601 City Center Way, from 10 in the morning until noon, and it is completely free. The paved lot turns into a temporary museum: fire engines, police cars, garbage trucks, loaders and heavy equipment, with the crews who drive them waiting to meet the small audience.

A museum your child can touch

Children can look, climb and explore the trucks, and meet the service teams who drive them. The Pembroke Pines police, fire and public works departments take part, with Baptist Health as the presenting sponsor. For parents in the middle of a move, the morning offers a natural opening for the new chapter: new streets to learn, new routines to shape, and a community that shows up for its kids on a Saturday.

Giveaways and the early window

The morning gives the first 150 children a Touch-a-Truck t-shirt, the first 350 a Hot Wheels car and the first 500 a safety hat, so arriving at 10 gives the little ones the calmer experience. But the stronger reason to come early is the crowd-free hour with the biggest trucks. The event runs about two hours, which is the right amount of time for a short-attention audience, and it leaves the rest of the weekend open.
