Fall begins in the southern part of Miami-Dade with the return of The Berry Farm Harvest Festival, at 13720 SW 216th Street in the Redland. Season 7 opens on Saturday, September 19, and runs through November 15, which means the crisp first days of the season bring pumpkins, corn and sunshine a short drive from Homestead. Families who used to think autumn meant a trip north now have a version that lives right here.

A day that stretches across the acres

The festival includes a five-acre corn maze, a large pumpkin field, sunflower fields, hayrides, the new Bubble Barn, a corn pit, a turf field with games and a 24-piece obstacle course. The nursery also brings in Scottish Highlands cattle, gem mining and a jumping pillow, so a child of any age finds a reason to stay. With that much on one property, the visit works as a full afternoon and the drives home end at naptime.

Tickets, hours and the early detail

Single-day tickets run about 23 dollars, and the family four-pack for two adults and two children comes to 99 dollars with food and bottled water included; children under 3 enter free. The farm opens at 10 in the morning and closes at 6:30 at night, with selected evenings extending to 9 with live music. Save the sunflowers for the first hour and the corn maze for the end, when the shade starts to come back.
