Things to Do in Cutler Bay With the Family

Cutler Bay keeps most of its fun outdoors: a waterfront park and marina, a town center with community events, and two of South Florida's best family attractions a short drive away.

Cutler Bay is the incorporated Miami-Dade town on Biscayne Bay, home to about 45,000 residents since it separated from the Cutler Ridge area in 2005. It is a compact, family-focused town, and almost all of its best weekends start outdoors: a marina jetty, a waterfront park, and two of the region's most beloved family attractions minutes from town.

Black Point Park and Marina

Black Point is Cutler Bay's waterfront anchor: a long fishing jetty over Biscayne Bay, paved trails for bikes and scooters, picnic pavilions with grills, and a full marina with a dock-side grill for after the walk. Families fish from the jetty, launch a kayak, or simply sit on the grass with the bay in front of them. It is the easiest half-day in town.

The Town Center and Cutler Ridge Park

Cutler Bay Town Center on Caribbean Boulevard is where the town gathers: concerts, parades, tree lightings, and the community events that give a town its calendar. A few minutes away, Cutler Ridge Park hosts youth sports, playgrounds, and regular food-truck nights, which is how many Cutler Bay families end their week.

Zoo Miami, minutes away

Zoo Miami sits at the town's doorstep, with more than 3,000 animals, miles of walking paths, the Wacky Barn children's area, and a wildlife carousel. The Gold Coast Railroad Museum is right next door, so a morning at the zoo and an afternoon among vintage locomotives makes a full day with no long drives. Both are the kind of outing that belongs on a yearly subscription.

Rainy-day and shopping plans

For afternoons when the sky opens, Southland Mall anchors the shopping side of town with department stores, a food court, and indoor space to walk. The mall sits on the north edge of Cutler Bay, and it has been the town's indoor gathering spot since before the town existed.

A note from Nanci

The parks and the marina are a big part of why families choose Cutler Bay, and they are a big part of what keeps them there. When Nanci shows you Cutler Bay homes, she can point out which streets make the weekend loop easiest: park, jetty, zoo, and home again.
