Homestead holds its Fall Spooktacular on Saturday, October 17, from 5 to 9 in the evening at Losner Park, 104 North Krome Avenue in the heart of downtown. The free, family-friendly evening includes a trick-or-treat lane lined with vendors, a scenic hayride, and a not-so-scary themed trail where dinosaurs, fairies, superheroes, pirates and friendly ghosts take the place of frights. A pumpkin patch with decorating, a clown-themed maze, food trucks, music and giveaways round out the night.

A gentle Halloween for younger children

The evening is designed for all ages, and the not-so-scary trail makes it a comfortable first Halloween for little ones. The trick-or-treat lane keeps the route short and contained inside the park, so families can walk it at a child's pace. Parents settle near the pumpkin patch while older kids take on the maze, and the hayride gives everyone a slow ride around the celebration without leaving the park.

A downtown park at the center of Homestead life

Losner Park sits at Krome Avenue and Washington Avenue, the social heart of downtown Homestead. For families who live in Homestead, Redland or along the Turnpike, the event is a short drive and a free night out. Arrive before 5 to get settled, bring water for the walk between activities, and let the children decide how much of the trail they are ready for.
