The 14th annual ZooRun takes place at Zoo Miami on Saturday, November 14, with the 5K and 10K starting at 7:30 in the morning and the new half marathon at 8:30. This year's race debuts a 13.1-mile course that runs the full 5K and 10K routes plus seven more miles through Zoo Miami's pine rocklands and outer perimeter. A kids dash keeps the morning family sized, and a virtual option lets runners take part from anywhere.

A race that ends at the zoo

Entry includes race-day access to Zoo Miami, so the run is only the beginning of the morning. Runners and their families can spend the rest of the day with the animals, and friends and family of registered runners get half off zoo admission on race day. The finish festival adds local food, live music and a beer garden, which makes the event work for spectators as much as for runners.

A Saturday morning in South Dade

Zoo Miami sits at 12400 SW 152nd Street, a short drive from Homestead, Cutler Bay and Palmetto Bay. The early start keeps the heat off the course and leaves the afternoon open for the zoo. For families who like active weekends, it is one of the most kid-friendly race mornings on the South Florida calendar.
