Zoo Miami opens its grounds for Zoo Lights starting Friday, November 27, from 6:30 to 10 at night at 12400 Southwest 152nd Street. The after-hours event strings more than a million animal-shaped and tree lights through the tropical landscape, with festive holiday music, character meet-and-greets, themed photo spots and seasonal treats. Select nights run through Wednesday, December 30.

A zoo you have never seen before

By day Zoo Miami is about the animals; by night the light sculptures take over the same paths, turning familiar exhibits into glowing scenes. Families who went in daylight will notice how different the grounds feel after dark, and the holiday music and photo spots give children plenty of reasons to stop along the way. The zoo closes at 4 in the afternoon on event days, so the lights transform an empty park.

Tickets and timing

Tickets are sold through the Zoo Miami Foundation shop, and early-bird pricing ends Thursday, November 26, so buying before Thanksgiving locks in the better rate. The confirmed nights are November 27 and 28, December 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 through 23, and 26 through 30. Arriving near opening at 6:30 gives the calmest walk through the lights.
