On Sunday, September 13, the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens opens its historic village for one of its most honest programs: the Farmers Market at Vizcaya Village (3250 South Miami Avenue) opens at 9:30 in the morning with local produce, pantry goods and the shade of the bay, and at 11 the Guided Tour of the Historic Vizcaya Village walks the working side of the estate that most visitors never see.

A market with the bay as a roof

The market is free to enter, with the parking included, and it works as a calm grocery run between the trees and the water, the kind of plan that makes the Grove feel like a village again. The stalls bring produce, baked goods, handmade goods and morning food, and the atmosphere keeps the slower rhythm that Coconut Grove built its name on.

The village tour at eleven

The guided tour of the historic village leaves at 11 in the morning and takes about 30 minutes, discovering the workshop, the garage, the helpers area and the life that kept the estate running a century ago; it is suitable for children and free for the under 12, with a fee for adults. In a weekend of South Florida events, this is the morning that splits between the table and the memory.
