The Miami Children's Museum hosts Arts Alive! Culinary Arts Edition on Saturday, November 14, and Sunday, November 15, during museum hours from 10 in the morning to 6 at night. The weekend program, tagged Rub-a-Dub-Dub, Give Thanks for the Grub, invites families to mix, measure, taste and create with culinary experts while exploring the flavors of fall. Young chefs learn simple kitchen skills through hands-on, Thanksgiving-themed activities.

Cooking that teaches more than recipes

Kitchen activities are a quiet win for parents: children practice measuring, following steps and working together, and they leave with the idea that lending a hand in the kitchen is fun. The museum's exhibits stay open around the program, so the day can mix cooking with the rest of the museum. Admission is 24 dollars for adults and children, 16 for Florida residents, and free for members and children under 12 months.

A Watson Island weekend for young families

The museum sits at 980 MacArthur Causeway on Watson Island, minutes from downtown Miami and an easy drive from Homestead, Pinecrest and Cutler Bay. For families with young children, the weekend program pairs well with a walk around the island and the bay views. Check the museum's calendar for program timing, and let the day introduce the museum's mix of play and learning.
